"We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children." —Native American Proverbs
Today and everyday we honor a figure that has nurtured us for generations: Mother Earth.
A thriving planet means our future generations can experience her beauty and bounty. For no stronger reason than preserving a brighter world for our children and theirs, we commit to using environmentally responsible practices across our operations.
Throughout the year, we continually reimagine our packaging materials to better care for you and Mother Earth, while upholding the highest quality meals and products that nourish your bodies, minds, and spirits.
Our Promises
We are dedicated to creating a vibrant, bright future for our planet, one meal at a time. We promise to:
Choose thoughtful, sustainable packaging which is recyclable or compostable. |
Minimize food waste by creatively using all parts of our produce and proteins in your meals—from seed to stem. |
Thoughtfully source from farmers and ranchers who practice sustainable and regenerative farming and livestock raising. |
Inspire people to nourish their bodies, supporting a diverse and organic food ecosystem. |
How We Are Doing
1. Better-for-the-Planet Packaging
We package all soups and stews in reusable, recyclable glass jars, more sustainable for the planet and cleaner for your body. We commit to never using oil-based plastic containers which can leach endocrine disruptors into food and water.
We use 100% compostable meal trays and snack bags, made of paper and corn starch, which composts into soil in 120 days in a commercial composting facility.
Our box liners are made with post-consumer recycled paper and are 100% curbside recyclable.
Our boxes are made with post-consumer recycled corrugated cardboard and taped with compostable, recyclable, water-activated tape printed with soy ink.
2. From Root to Leaf
Through careful planning and composting, we keep our food waste below 1% in our kitchen operations. We work creatively to make use of all the parts of our ingredients. For example, we simmer our nutrient-rich sweet potato skins and mushroom stems in our nourishing stocks that become the base of many meals, and we’ve crafted dishes like our Warming Beet Soup which uses all the nutrient-dense parts of the plant, from root to leaf.
3. Partnerships with Sustainable Farmers
We continue to source organic, high quality ingredients from environmentally responsible farms and suppliers, whose produce is both sustainable and clean for the planet and more nutritious for nourishing our bodies.
4. Every Meal Creates a Positive Impact
By selectively sourcing humanely raised animals from environmentally responsible farmers and ranchers, we strive to minimize our contribution to greenhouse gas emissions, while upholding the highest quality meals and nutrition that nourish your body for this important recovery moment.
As part of our Giving Back commitment to donate 2% of total sales, we pledge to donate one dollar to OneTreePlanted for every order of a Meal Program or Gift Box.
However, the work doesn’t stop here. We continue to research and reimagine ways to better care for you and the planet. Thank you for joining us on this journey—one in which we feel deeply connected to the Earth, to each other, and to our greater purpose.
With love & light,
